Happy 2022 everyone 👋 Caroline from Guru’s Technical Support team here!  I know that with the new year upon us, everyone is thinking ahead about what this year will bring. Today, I wanted to highlight some updates that have already been released to Guru that make migrating content easier than ever! I have been excited to chat about this in individual conversations with folks, and I’m eager to hear how your team may benefit from these improvements. 🧠Last month, our Professional Services team announced 7 new import options have been added to our web app (Notion, Slab, Google Docs, Google Sites, Word Docs, PDFs, AND most recently Github), in addition to our existing options, Confluence, Zendesk, and spreadsheets.This is a picture of the improved import menu in the Guru Web App.Additionally, they have also made it possible to break up long-form documents into bite-sized Cards based on their header! 🎉 When importing from Word Docs or Google Docs, you’ll be prompted to decide how to split

Is there a log of knowledge alerts? Can a previously sent / acknowledge alert be accessed / reviewed. We are wanting to see what the text of the alert was and cannot find a historic log of alerts. 

We currently use Wordpress for our user help center to publish articles and have accessible information for our users. The accordion style hierarchy topics>subtopics>articles is likely the only plus I see of it other than using Guru. The hierarchy of our Wordpress system also only goes about 3 or 4 levels so even that is pretty limited.I was wondering if anyone using Guru as a external Help center for any users outside of their org and if so how did you make it work for you. Examples or links would be very helpful as well! I would love to use Guru’s analytics and editing capabilities to move on from WordPress that does not serve our users that well since it’s pretty hard to maneuver or analyze.I am trying to not lean too heavy into integrating into another app since I want the analytics of Guru and our engineering teams bandwidth are pretty short which is why we have put off this issue for so long.

A joint authoring effort between the Product Specialist team and the Technical Support team, these FAQ Cards contain tips on troubleshooting, expected feature behavior, and known workarounds.Using Guru Analytics, we can see our Product Q&A Collection is frequently referenced by the customer-facing team members at Guru. Our Product Q&A Cards also serve as inspiration for the Technical Support team's Help Center articles. 📖As we look at the content of our internal knowledge base and think bigger picture, Technical Support can see a few themes emerging. For example, our customer-facing teams have recently consumed quite a bit of content around the subject of "Table of Contents" and markdown blocks. We feel this could serve as inspiration to expand our knowledge base wi

Is there a way to create a knowledge alert via API request? We have automated creating Guru cards of our release notes as part of our CI/CD pipeline, and it would be great if after the card is created we could automatically issue a knowledge alert from our external script vs. doing it manually.

👋 Hi everyone! I’m in charge of lifecycle marketing at Guru and recently created a quarterly team update template I thought others would benefit from.In lifecycle marketing, my updates are relevant to a wide variety of teams from sales to product to brand and more. I wanted to lean-in to async comms so I created a slide deck and recorded a 15 minute Loom video of myself walking through the updates. I then embedded the video into a Guru Card and summarized the key updates with links to other Guru Cards for more information. And finally, I shared this Card via Slack in various channels.If you share async quarterly updates with other teams, check out this template! Any ideas on how to improve it? If an admin is leaving the Company, how can we transition their role/tasks? What is the offboarding process like? What automatically happens in Guru if employee email address rendered inactive? What can we do manually to ensure a smooth transition?

Hi Everyone! Wondering if someone is currently publishing Guru cards to an external website via API and what does that process look like. I'd love to learn more about how that's been done.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to create a linebreak when commenting? I see that you can do it while drafting the comment, but once it sends, the comment is reformatted and there are no linebreaks which make it difficult to read. If there is no way to create linebreaks in comments, are there other solutions you’ve found that work (i.e. carrying a conversation within the card- though that doesn’t seem like best practice)?

When I am trying to select a verifier for my card all I can choose is from the list of individual users and the “All Members” group, but I cannot see any other Group.  Have I missed something when I was setting up the group or collection?   

Hey everyone! How do you support HR/People Ops efforts with Guru? We’re looking to find some examples of Guru Cards to turn into templates and add to the Template Gallery!  If you use Guru to support communications to employees and log hiring, onboarding, benefit information and more in Guru — what types of Cards do you maintain? Would love to see examples of interview templates, total compensation statements, equity compensation policies, 1:1 meeting template, performance review templates, anything that you think others would find helpful. We’d love to get some inspiration, and with your permission, turn your ideas into Guru Card templates that will be featured along with other Guru Card templates. Hi Team, I iframed some google documents, but when I made some changes in the google doc, the changes won’t automatically reflected in Guru card. How can I refresh the iframe edits?  Thanks

Hi fellow GURU-Champs, As we are expanding our company overseas, we are setting up all our systems for the multi-national setup.  Following context / situation I am trying to sort out: We are setting up our US Business Unit at the moment, global hub sits within the EU We will be able to have a data exchange between Germany and the US BU And we’d like to use one central GURU platform We’ve set up the GURU collections based on functional teams (which will collaborate within the matrix)   Questions I’d like to find an answer for: Do you have best practices for the collection setup for different Business Units? Our current structure mirrors the functional team setups. However, the team setup itself in the US will be different to the EU team, and therefore, a 1:1 integration seems not to be the perfect go-to-solution. What are your recommendations in regard of access level settings? What are your recommendations in regard of tag conventions? Or naming conventions?  I really apprec

It’s very frustrating to have lowercase “i” show up as very similar to uppercase “i” and lowercase “L”.  Is there a way to change the default font in Guru?  See screenshot for an example.

Caroline from Technical Support here 👋 I wanted to pop in here and follow up on a post from a few weeks back about how to embed files into Guru Cards.  To zoom out a bit, we often get questions about when and when not to embed files into Cards and I thought it may be helpful to share more about how we think about this internally at Guru! We recommend embedding (or linking to) an external file:  If it is written in long-form content (think, a research document)  If it is a specific-use program that has specific editing capabilities for that asset (think, a Google Sheet)  A great example of this is the Project Summary Cards that our team creates to detail an ongoing project for internal stakeholders. The purpose of these Cards is to summarize the project goals and deadlines, and address potential questions from those across departments. I’m not able to find any resource on this but is there any way to continue your numbered bullet points after inputting a iframe or other piece of content within a Guru card?I am trying to do:1.2.3.[iframe piece]4.I am currently unable to figure it out but wondering if it’s not possible and I just need to manually format the numbered bullets myself.

Hi everyone! 👋On the Support team, we often hear customers asking how you can move Cards between Collections, whether you're trying to re-structure your Guru environment or have a single Card you want to live in a different Collection.🚨Before you follow these steps, ensure that you have Author access to the Collection that the Card lives in and the Collection that you're moving the Card to. You can double check your Collection permissions from the Collections page in Team Settings! 🚨In order to move a Card between Collections, first navigate to the Card Manager. From here, you can filter for the Card(s) you want by using the Filter by Attribute column on the right hand side of the page.After you have filtered for the desired Card, click on a single Card or all Cards: Next, click on the Move to Collection icon:Select the Collection that you want the Card to move to, and tada! 🎉 You've moved a Card between Collection.You can read more about moving content between Collections here. Hey everyone 👋🏻How do you capture customer and internal feedback to help improve your Help Center?At Guru, I work with our Technical Support Team to manage and update all of our Help Center documentation. We capture feedback through: an internal Asana form for employees to submit new ideas, flag typos, and suggest edits new feature releases We collaborate with our Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers to update documentation before any major product launch implicit signals from customers We use Intercom Articles for our Help Center. Their reporting feature to captures article views and overall satisfaction for articles, which we analyze on a monthly basis to inform improvements. However, we don't capture explicit feedback or comments about our Help Center usefulness. Intercom has a thumbs up/thumbs down feature, but we can't capture comments on articles themselves. Hey everyone! Is your team using Guru across teams or company-wide? If so, what challenges have you come up against as you build engagement? What tips and tricks would you share for using Guru across teams or the entire company?Sometimes when folks roll out Guru company-wide, it takes some intentional change management to make sure all teams see how Guru can benefit them within their workflows.
