I've been tossing this idea around for the past month or so but I think it would be useful to build a custom link shortener for the app that brands the links. The reasons for are no different from the reasons people use Bit.ly or other link shortening services.
• Branding
• Shared links to Guru Cards can be extremely long. This would help to make them more readable and friendly
• More aesthetically pleasing

Thirded! For us, we post links to key Guru boards/cards in our Slack channels (often as a pinned post or in the "about" area of a channel). Having those URLs being shortened makes it so much easier to read in slack convos.

And beyond aesthetics, which are equally important, you'd have more detailed click metrics, but that's just my Marketing team talking LOL
Indeed. I was also looking at it from a accessibility perspective in that a short link reduces cognitive load.
