  • What is the problem? While we can create a glossary of terms in a few different ways in Guru, an out-of-the-box capability to allow glossary terms to be identified and defined when used in Guru cards would be helpful. 

  • Who is it a problem for? All users. 

  • How do you solve the problem today? We will likely create a glossary of terms (one per card) and manually remember to reference that Guru glossary term definition card when using those terms in other cards.  

  • How would you ideally solve the problem? Would be great if Guru first allowed you to identify any terms in the glossary and then provided functionality so that any time you to hover over one of those terms in a card, its definition would reveal without having to leave the card. 

  • How big is the problem (business impact, frequency of impact etc.) A glossary is such an important part of any knowledge base, so it has the potential to provide a large impact. Proactively providing users with glossary definitions helps to remove the burden of authors having to remember to link out to glossary terms, which also requires an additional click/navigation for the reader. 

Great idea @Lynn Miller! My team was just talking about this today, as it would help reduce duplicated definitions, minimize ambiguity that may arise between different definitions, and decrease the work required in updating content.


Guru needs a native way to identify glossary terms and display their definitions via hover tooltips directly within cards. 

 

This would:

  • Eliminate the need for manual linking to glossary cards
  • Improve user comprehension without disrupting the reading flow
  • Reduce authoring overhead and ensure consistent terminology usage
  • Drive adoption by making Guru feel smarter and more intuitive

This is a particularly important feature for rapidly growing organizations trying to adopt Guru fully.
