Hi Product team and fellow Guru users 

I have a suggestion for a built-in highlighter for Guru! Below you’ll find all the details, but essentially this would be a built-in version of highlighter extensions like Weava, and it would allow each Guru user to highlight any text on a card for their personal note-taking without affecting other users.

What is the problem?

There’s no built-in way to highlight text (or add personal notes to your highlights) on a card. 

Who is it a problem for?

Individual users who highlight text as a way to learn, take notes, or quickly find specific information.

How do you solve the problem today?

There are highlighter extensions, but not all of them are compatible with Guru. Here are the two I’ve tested on my Mac so far:

• Weava on Chrome
• Highlighter on Safari

Please feel free to thread more extension/browser combos you’ve tried, and which have worked for you!

How would you ideally solve the problem?

A built-in highlighter would be great because it would be a lot more stable, and the user’s highlights and notes would be saved to their account. This would also be browser agnostic! 

How big is the problem (business impact, frequency of impact etc.)?

This is a daily pain point, but with very low business impact. It’s more about individual users and enabling their personal note-taking.
