Sometimes it is not practical to answer an Ask an Expert question with a Guru card. In those cases it would be ideal to still be able to mark the question as answered.

I realize that a question can be dismissed at any time, but it may linger as “unanswered” in other Experts’ inboxes making it seem as if it has not been addressed.

Archiving is not a solution since that renders the card inaccessible to everyone including the asker.

Not having an option to answer a question without an article or creating one, simply leads to people hacking the system with fake articles or not using it at all. Please have a look into it asap.

It would also be a great to use the comments feature and “answer with card/existing card” together. There are many situations in that I prefer to reply to the submitter with more context than simply sending a card. To do this today, it is two different processes and disjointed by sending a comment after or before sending a card.

Our team recently looked at the functionality of asking questions for our new employees, but realized that it isn’t useful because of this. It would be better if we could answer a question without a card and maintain a public record of questions asked. We could then use the record of questions to develop content, but not be required to create a new card (that would likely be made in haste) in order to answer a new hire’s question.
