Hi there,

I’d like to advocate for surfacing folders in search results within Guru.

What’s the problem?
Users who are unfamiliar with the folder structure—especially in collections outside their immediate team—may not know certain folders (and their contents) exist. While they can search by keywords to find individual cards, they often miss broader areas of content because folder-level context is invisible.

Who is affected?

  • New users onboarding into the knowledge ecosystem

  • Cross-functional collaborators who rely on content from other departments but aren't kept in the loop

  • Anyone navigating complex or rapidly growing collections

Current workaround:
None — folders aren’t currently searchable.

Ideal solution:
Enable folder names to appear in search results when a keyword match occurs. For example, searching “Software” should surface the Software folder, not just individual cards.

Business impact:
As our content library and user base grows, surfacing folders in search will enhance discoverability, accelerate self-paced exploration, and maximize the value of search. It creates a more intuitive navigation experience and helps train users to uncover more relevant content.
